Biography John Denstedt

Dr. John Denstedt graduated from medical school at The University of Western Ontario in 1982. He did his residency in Urology at Western between 1983 and 1987 and then completed a fellowship in Endourology under Dr. Ralph Clayman at Washington University in St. Louis.

He has been on the faculty in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery at The University of Western Ontario since 1990 and is currently Professor of Urology at Western. In July 2003 he assumed the role of Chairman of the Department of Surgery at The University of Western Ontario.
 
He is the author of over 200 scientific articles and book chapters. He has been guest professor at over 200 universities, national meetings or instructional courses throughout the world.

In 1997 he received the Gold Cystoscope Award from the American Urological Association and is the only Canadian to have won this award that is one of the highest honours in the American Urological Association.

He is a member of many national and international organizations and serves on the editorial board of most major urology journals.
 
His clinical practice at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Care London is primarily in endourology with research interests in urolithiasis, biofilms, lasers and minimally invasive techniques in urology.
