Dr. Seiji Naito is Professor and Chairman of Department of Urology, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan.
He graduated from Kumamoto University in 1974. After completion of residency and postgraduate course in Kyushu University, he served at Department of Urology, Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital as the medical staff until 1982 when he started his teaching career as Assistant professor of the Department of Urology, Kyushu University.
From 1984 to 1986, he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of the Department of Urology and Cell Biology at MD Anderson Hospital, Houston, Texas, USA. He took up the present post in 1998, and has continued his clinical and scientific research work at Kyushu University until now.
He has been the President of the Japanese Urological Asociation (JUA) and the chief-editor of International Journal of Urology (IJU) since April, 2009 and the president of East Asian Society of Endourology (EASE) since 2004. He is past president of the Japanese Society of Endourology and ESWL (JSEE).
He is a council member of the Urological Association of Asia (UAA), Japan Society of Clinical Oncology (JSCO) and Japan Robotic Surgery Society. He is also a board member of the Japanese Cancer Association (JCA), the Japan Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the Japan Society of Endoscopic Surgery.
He is an active member of various urological societies: e,g, Endourological Society, American Urological Association (AUA), the European Association of Urology (EAU), the Société International d’Urologie (SIU). He is author of over 250 peer reviewed publications and has also authored many book chapters.
