Biography Alexander Bachmann

Prof. Dr. Alexander Bachmann was born in 1968 in Leipzig, Germany and attended premedical school in Greifswald.

He finally earned medical degree at Leipzig University Medical School in 1994. After having residency in St. Gallen, Cologne, Zürich, Gelsenkirchen and Leverkusen became a board certification as a specialist in Urology in 2002.

Since 2002 he was Fellow of Urology at Department of Urology, University Hospital of Basel. In 2004 moved for one year to Munich and proctored starting with urologic laparoscopy at LMU Munich. Since April 2006 he is the Head and Chairman of the Department of Urology Basel - Liestal, University Hospital Basel.
 
Specialized in the entire field of ablative and reconstructive laparoscopy including donor nephrectomy. Additionally, special academic and clinical investigation are done on minimally-invasive prostate surgery, especially on prostate laser surgery.

He is a founding member if the International Greenlight user group (IGLU) in 2005. Additionally he’s scientific and clinical work is focused in living donor nephrectomy, reconstructive minimally-invasive kidney surgery different techniques of minimally-invasive prostate surgery. He is member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) working party on BPH guidelines since 2007.

Prof. Bachmann is author and reviewer of numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-ranked Journals, including European Urology, Journal of Urology, Transplantation and World Journal of Urology. He has contributed in numerous book chapters dealing prostate laser surgery, laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and kidney surgery as well. He is member of European Urology, Endourological Society, German Urological Association (DGU) and Swiss Urological Association (SGU).
